Screen Door Makeover

Sometimes age and sweet details, just need some color to truly shine.

My mom (finder of all cool things) scored this brown door at a yard sale. It needed some support on the back side but, don’t we all? LOL! A couple of small metal plates and a couple of screws had her strudy as could be.
Can we admire her detals? She has the sweetest scalloped frame, shuttered bottom, and I LOVE the letters and numbers left from a previous owner.
I imagine that this door slammed a hundred thousand times as kids ran in and out of it in the summer time…so, those letters and numbers are probably significant to someone in the world - they MUST be kept.

I wanted to highlight her scallops and her chippiness. Paperclay moulds helped me add fun details in the corners, around the letters, even the key holes by the door pull.
Then came layers of color. Turquoise, corals, yellow, copper, white -
The bottom was calling for flowers, so flowers it got!
I replaced the torn screen with chicken wire, and voiala ~
Now, this door will brighten up your front porch, or make an adorable message board to hang on your wall.

It doesn’t take much to go from old door to statement piece - this door is the perfect example.
If she speaks to you, she could be yours.
